Greetings, users. This thread is to discuss the new Warning system that I have added to make life much easier on the boards.
What is a Warning system?
To be frank, the Warning system allows users to know that they have messed up on the forum, and that they should step up their act so that they don't face a ban. The Warning system is visible in their mini-profile next to any of their posts, and can be viewed by anyone.
How does it work?
The Warning system can only be tampered with by the moderators and admins of Eclectica. When a user steps out of line, a moderator will choose to "Modify your Profile" and find the area of text-fields to set a Warning level.
Normally, with the basic Warning system, all a mod/admin would have to do is click "Warn User", and the warning would only disappear when a mod/admin decides to remove it, but with the new system, expiration dates can be set so that the Warning automatically disappears when the date is met. Reasons for the warning can also be added, so the user specifically knows what they did wrong, so that they will not make the same mistake in the future.
How long do warnings last?
Good question. The length of a warning period depends on the action the user made to be warned. A simple list of warning periods are provided below:
- Double-posting (more than once): 24-hour warning period.
- Starting a flame war: Three-day warning period.
- Spamming: 24-hour warning period.
(More to be added as time goes on)
What happens if a user keeps stepping out of line while warned?
The user will simply be banned for a period of 3 days to a week, depending on the level of their actions. If it repeats a second time, they will not be unbanned.
(More to come later)
